Additional Charges In Beating Death of College Student Delivering Pizza

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Paula T. Dow announced today that new charges are to be brought against three

juveniles, age 16 and 17 from Orange, and age 15 from Woodbridge, New Jersey for the homicide of Nabeel

Siddiqui, a 24 year old college student, of Kearny, New Jersey.

On September 27, 2003 at approximately 9:43 p.m. in the location of 678 Haxtun Avenue in Orange, New Jersey,

the victim, Nabeel Siddiqui, was delivering pizza when he was beaten with a baseball bat by the juveniles. The

victim was struck about the head area and left at the scene. The juveniles fled the area in the victim’s vehicle. Mr.

Siddiqui was transported to University Hospital where he expired on October 6, 2003.

The alleged juvenile defendants were initially charged with aggravated assault, robbery, weapons offenses,

carjacking and conspiracy. However when the victim expired, these defendants were also charged with felony

murder.

Acting Prosecutor Dow said a Notice of Motion requesting transfer of the juveniles and their charges to Superior

Court should be docketed with the court today.

Acting Prosecutor Dow further stated that the investigation is ongoing and that the Prosecutor's Homicide Unit,

in conjunction with the Orange Police Department, will continue to investigate, following up on each and every

lead in this case.

These charges are mere accusations. Defendants are presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty in a
